Armin van Buuren, the world reknowned trance DJ/Producer is returning to the city of New York after his very successful stop for the A State Of Trance 600: The Expedition stop last year. Armin is returning to the fabled concert venue, Madison Square Garden to bring a truly remarkable 6-hour journey involving acrobatics, pyrotechnics, live performances from some of the most incredible vocalist in the world, along with a full sized band.
Recently, Armin took to New York City (and was introduced to the traffic of the Big Apple) for his press conference at the Baroness Bar in Long Island City. Fans lined the block around the bar in anticipation for the man of the hour to discuss what he had in store for the show of this magnitude. After a viewing of the Armin Only Intense trailer, Armin discussed the project as a ‘non-stop DJ set’, a freestyle DJ show based around the Intense album but with variation from city to city. ‘If you go to the Armin Show in NYC it’ll be different then going to the show in Toronto’, he states.
Hollywood.TV was on site to conduct an interview with Armin:
HTV: How do you feel having a nomination for a Grammy and what does it mean to you?
Armin: The nomination alone is a really special thing. For somebody that’s not a U.S. resident, to be nominated for a Gramy is unbelievable.
HTV: What will it mean to win the Grammy?
Armin:I guess there’s nothing higher than that, it’s like winning the Oscar for Music? It would truly be a dream come true.
HTV: What do you do to stay on top?
Armin: What helps is the fact that I have a weekly radio show (ASOT) and my fans keep me on my feet.
HTV: What’s different about Madison Square Garden compared to other venues?
Armin: The venue is a historic venue and the perfect location for a show this size. It’s also an easy venue to get to. If you want to play a show in New York, you better be at the best place possible!
HTV: What do you do for fun?
Armin: I don’t need to do a lot of fun things. The kick is playing in front of a crowd and seeing the fans go crazy. It would be easier to travel the world with a USB key and play the biggest tracks… But instead, I’ll be bringing 25-30 people along with me for a live show.
HTV: What’ll be the different about this show (Armin Only: Intense)?
Armin: Shows based upon the Intense album and the just released, More Intense album. We’ve added new tracks to the show as well as live performances. A fullband, acrobats, 6 fantastic singers etc!
Armin discussed a popular subject amongst his fanbase in regards to the Whose Afraid of 138 label. “‘Whose Afraid of 138′ started as something on the radio show that sort of took on a life of its own. My dream is to take the concept to the next level. We’ll have to see if there’s enough fans for it, and if a large enough following occurs, I’ll try to bring it to NY as well’”, said Armin. He’s hoping to have a follow-up track with the singer Trevor Guthrie in the future. An interesting question ask of Armin was his thoughts on artists playing shorts sets compared to his longer tour of 6 hours. “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with playing shorter sets. The impact of a big track can be so much bigger if you build it up. I love trance and I love trance music, I’ve been playing it my entire life. You can build up trance without trance because there’s great tracks out there.”
Armin’s planning on taking New York City on an incredible journey. Join us along with him on this trip! Tickets are available at ArminOnly.com or click the link here! Looking forward to what April will bring!
Everyone loves some bass in their life, so let’s get right to the point and talk about how to get it: https://beta.spotlight.fm/artists/jason-freeze/jason-freeze-bassment-mix
Jason Friesenhahn’s “BASSment Mix” was submitted to Spotlight’s latest contest, where contestants enter their mix to win a 60 minute opening DJ set at BASSment Saturdays with Stratus and Subset on December 14th in New York City’s infamous Webster Hall. Freeze is a senior Music Tech major at Steven’s Institute of Technology, and proves all he’s learned through the seamless blending of genres in this all around epic submission. For all the Hardstyle fans out there, worry not, you can get your fix at 11 minutes. Addicted to twerking? Fulfill your addiction at 36:45. For all my beautiful booty bouncer’s, you can go up and down and make it clap at 41:30. This mix is undoubtedly a BPM roller coaster, taking listeners on a refreshing ride.
With such a strong submission, I’m predicting Jason Freeze to be a strong asset to BASSment Saturday’s lineup if he wins this contest. In order to make that happen, help him out through voting, which takes a total of 30 seconds to sign up.

Finally. CMB will get the chance to catch up with world renown techno producer, UMEK. This Saturday, the Slovenian born artist will be hitting one of NYC’s most popular clubs, Pacha. UMEK is one of the busiest DJs in the world playing over 100 shows per year. While he has produced tracks for labels such as Toolroom (Mark Knight), Spinnin, Great Stuff, Intec (Carl Cox), and many more, the legendary DJ has been actively recruiting young talent for his own techno label, 1605. In addition, UMEK has played at practically all of the major festivals such as Ultra Music Festival, Electric Zoo, Beyond Wonderland and Electric Daisy among many others.
The Slovenian’s DJing skills are second to none and he has a tremendous ability to read the emotions of the crowd during his shows. So whether you are into techno, electro-house, trance, trap, disco, hardstyle, neo-hippie chill, or any other self insisting sub-genre of dance music, I guarantee that you will enjoy listening to UMEK perform live. So if you’ve got a late night to spare, come experience amazing.
