Here at CMB, we want to use our power as writers to profile music you may not hear about and artists you may not hear about. One way to do that is to profile local guys either making waves or are just about to. Someone who definitely falls into that “about to make waves” category is Brad Beasley with his mixtape “Proper Arrival”, which released today.
First, a little background on the writers of CMB: We’re all college kids who grew up in New Jersey. Everyone stayed close to home at Rutgers or Lehigh but my ass decided to go out to University of Arizona in Tucson.
Therefore, I was a little skeptical that I would find new artists at all, but lo and behold I did, and wanted to write my first Local Artist Profile on Brad from Scottsdale, Arizona.
Oh wait…there’s one more thing. He’s a Freshman. As in a Freshman in HIGH SCHOOL.
Looking like he is more likely to create a Justin Bieber track than a really good rap, this kid works over some sick beats and has some amazing lines. He really has a very good flow and with enough exposure, can really make a splash on the Arizona Hip Hop scene (which does exist if those East Coasters don’t believe me).
Every song on “Proper Arrival” has sick beats. He’s also got a great remix over Childish Gambino’s “Freaks and Geeks” and some great vocals in his one track “Truth Be Told”.
Keep in mind, this kid is still young, and this isn’t some Mixtape produced in a big ass studio. Also, he isn’t rapping about bitches and drugs. He’s rapping about his family, his life, and his dreams of making it big. Hopefully with a little hard work he can make it happen.
This is the single he released off of his Mixtape called “Do it All”
P.S. Much like Catch My Bass, Brad is a talent just trying to get his name out there right now. Do him and yourself a favor and like his music page on Facebook (Brad Beasley) and follow him on Twitter (bradbeasley1)
