I have been keeping this group to myself for awhile now, but it’s about time that I introduce you guys to the newest group making waves out of Brooklyn. Known as the Flatbush Zombies, Meechy Darko and Juice collaborate on the vocals as they go in over some sick Erick Arc Elliot produced beats. Gaining notoriety with their ode to breakfast food and their favorite type of green, Thug Waffles was the track that put these guys on the map. From there, the charisma and charm of the group led them to an opening gig for A$AP Rocky, some love from Complex magazine, and a mention of top groups to watch by artist Lana Del Rey. The guys just dropped off another video today, entitled S.C.O.S.A which features some sick visuals. The production of these visuals was handled by the team from The Madbury Club, who do beautiful work on all of their projects. Currently, Flatbush Zombies is at SXSW and will be performing at the festival. So keep an eye on these guys and don’t be surprised if they follow in A$AP’s footsteps and sign themselves to a lucrative record deal. Oh, and for those who are wondering, Flatbush Zombies refers to where they are from and how they like to smoke so much weed that they eventually turn in to zombies.
You can download Thug Waffles from their bandcamp, and you can also check out their website (NSFW)
