Interview With Arty From Identity Festival Philadelphia!

The United States has opened its gates. Electronic Music has made its grand entrance into the ears of listeners that stretch coast to coast. Although it may seem everyone is catching on to this latest craze in music, the entire electronic sound isn’t 100 percent being given the warm welcome hug that you may think. Arty, one of the youngest and up and coming names in House and Trance music realizes the differences when he comes to play a set in the States compared to overseas and prepares accordingly. His view on what his style his sets are like depends completely on what he feels from the crowd. “People here want the bangers. They want big room, heavy sounds,” Arty said about his interpretation of the American Fans’ desires. For a DJ who comes from a trance background, leaning more now towards a house sound, he has a lot of music in his arsenal and realizes what tracks should be used and when. “The crowd here was reacting well to my harder and bigger house tracks,” he said about the masses at Festival Pier’s Main Stage at the Philadelphia Identity Festival Stop. “I like “dancey” tracks, more than ones that deal with emotions, but what I play also depends on the length of the set,” he said concerning his new stance as more of a house DJ. “People here aren’t really as open to trance tracks as they are in other places,” said Arty. His views on trance being accepted in US were more about the name than the sound. “Armin Van Buuren can come here and play a trance set because that’s what people expect from him and want to hear.” For now, Arty insists that he will keep his sets “fresh” and will continue to give us what we want to hear.

On Arty’s first traveling dance music tour, he is really enjoying himself and expresses exhaustion after each set. Watching him preform was an absolute treat and you could tell the entire crowd surrounding the mega structure which he conducted from, felt the same way. Saying he played a massive set, really doesn’t do the Russian phenom justice. As the Philly sun began its descent, and its neon LED rivals began to invade the finger tips of many, Arty brought us to a new level. A level of sound that demanded a crowd to crave for more.

“ Of course I care what the fans are saying,” said Arty when the topic of DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ list came up. A world-renowned source that tallies up votes from fans around the world for who is the top in the DJ World, which Arty was named 25th in last year, will announce its results in a few weeks or so. “Its good to know your fans care and it shows the support you have,” he said referring to the yearly vote. The Internet and social media play a huge role in this process, and in the end a list will be named, but Arty’s immediate focus remains on the music, and not the polls. One of the youngest, most talented faces in the EDM world keeps his cool, collected self when asked to answer a question or two, but transforms into a titan, leading crowds with his powerful sound.
