CatchMyBass presents Reel Choons: Episode 04 Bearsprey

A long awaited episode of Reel Choons from CatchMyBass has finally arrived. Bearsprey is a relatively unknown artist that hails from the Jersey coastal area. Yes, he is another artist that is coming out of the college scene, but that’s about the only thing that’s relatively common about him. His style is unique and constantly changing. You could say that he’s somewhat of a chameleon in the scene today. By looking at his SoundCloud you could tell that he likes to touch ‘em all. Starting with some basic edits you could tell Bear’s grew up off of a 90s hip hop stigma. Moving forwards with the scene, he clearly jumped into a more electro feel, almost a mix of Mord Fustang and Daft Punk in the music. One of his bigger hits came from the surge of trap music when he put together Hardwell’s Spaceman and Major Lazer’s Original Don From here, he steered over from the electro feel and jumped into a more techno and tribal feel with his music while keeping his past love of electro alive. Yes, that’s a whole lot of jargon in one sentence, so the best way to understand is to simply listen. A good friend of mine, I can tell you that Bearsprey will continue to chameleon his music until he finds the right balance of genres. His tendencies point to techno and tribal feel in the future and I’m excited and hope that he continues working to find this perfect genre. However, I do know one thing for sure, he loves great music, and loves when he can make people laugh and smile. So here you have it. Real Choons Episode 04 Feat. Bearsprey.

My favorite song of his: Malfunction vs. I’m in Love aka Machine Heart (Gaudino vs. La Roche)

Bonus: One of Bearsprey‘s throwback influences, DJ Day Live at the Do-Over

I hope that you can appreciate this great music from Bearsprey!

ChillballPete’s Top 5 Must See Acts at ULTRA 15

ULTRA 15 is right around the corner and with a lot of CMB going, including myself, I feel it essential to write my top 5 for this massive festival. Here it goes…

Honorables: Carl Cox, Seven Lions, Phunk Investigation

Known to kill it in Miami, Fedde Le Grand is a must see on Friday. Playing in the prime time slot on Friday night on the main stage, Le Grand puts together great house sets that will keep the crowd excited for the later shows. Songs like Autosave and Put Your Hands up for Detroit show how far the guy’s made it. Rated a top 3 set last year, check him out.

Deadmau5 was MIA at last year’s Ultra so expect him to come with something special on this year’s main stage. Rumor has it the Mau5 will go “unplugged”, or unmasked and with an entirely new set than he usually plays. This would make sense after his release of <Album Title Goes Here> this past year.

This bundle of energy never ceases to amaze me. With an early set on the Ultra Buenos Aires stage, Tritonal is sure to bring a show and a half. Come with tons of energy, cause this trance team from Austin, Texas will have you moving. Expect erratic dance moves for that full hour from @TritonalChad who just looks like he’s having more fun than anyone in the crowd. I’ll match him.

Yet to see these guys in a festival setting, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano are something to wake up for Saturday morning. Unfortunately, the funky team only gets an hour long set which is a tragedy. The more time they get the better, because they have the ability to build and break and to build and break again. Let’s make due with what we have Ultra fans and show the funky tribal DJs how the Miami can party.

Too tough to narrow in on one set, I had to go with the combination on Sunday night. Above & Beyond followed by Armin van Buuren will be heavenly. No more words needed.

To everyone going, have fun and be safe! ULTRA, here we come.

Two Door Cinema Club – Sleeps Alone (The Chainsmokers Remix)

The Chainsmokers are putting out some fantastic tracks lately.

If you haven’t heard of them yet, check out their Facebook page here. If you want a quick bio, check there about us. What you’ll find is that the duo is actually hilarious and will definitely get you a laugh, and well, great music at the same time. An uplifting progressive song, sleeps alone has a techy feel that they claim will “bring spring in”. Something like that. Definitely take a listen to this one and spread the word for sure. Stay tuned, they have a few surprises for you guys in the near future!

Tritonal – Bullet That Saved Me [Metamorphic I]

Tritonal coming back in style. Following their ARC Tour with Super8 and Tab they are coming out with a new EP called “Metamorphic I” that comes out March 25th. Here’s the preview of their new single “Bullet that Saved Me” which comes out March 11th. Play it all at ULTRA! This is their personal style and it’s so great that they stay true with with. Fuckin’ Chad.

Don Diablo – M1 Stinger: Original and Trap Mix

So the original is a pure, smooth sounding electro sound. It sounds really modern with a vocal that has a “techno-ie” vibe. What gLAdiator does is genius. Takes the soft sound of M1 Stinger and creates a trap BANGER! Must be played at high volume to appreciate it. Cheers!

Huge Euge – In Transit EP (Out on Beatport Now!)

It’s been a while since we’ve featured this guy on our site. From Huge Euge to Veltman and back to Huge Euge, he’s finally released his first EP, this one consisting of 3, I would say pretty massive tunes. He’s opened for many big names, Zedd, Fedde, Nervo, to name a few. Please support the hometown hero here on Beatport. Check him out at Santos Party House on Lafayette Street, NYC this Saturday. CMB is proud of you!
