When I think of Passion Pit, I usually think of funky and upbeat music. That being said, it is really, really hard to possibly make them more upbeat and more funky, but Music Producer Chrome Canyon does this with his remix of Passion Pit’s song “Constant Conversations”.
Chrome Canyon is a producer out of Brooklyn, New York who is not really that popular as of yet (less than 1700 likes on Facebook), but if he keeps turning out tunes like this, who knows? Definitely someone to look out for.
Groove Armada. Deep House groovin all day. This remix, their “dub reconstruction” of Chicken Lips “He Not In” has got a real funky sound. The continuous vocal sample layered over bouncy deep synths drives this track across the dance floor. Love the bass-line as well. Groove Armada will release this track on January 28th under Defected Records and will be available on Beatport! Give it a listen and groove along!
When the new year comes around, electronic music fans instantly want to know what to expect out of their favorite producers. Will they stay with their traditional sound? Will they hold back and blend in with the crowd? Or will they continue on a path that shows growth and promise for the new year. Chicago duo, Sephano & Torio had a very strong year in 2012, filled with tracks that I really did enjoy. Once I found out that they’d release a track at the start or 2013, I was ready to see what they had in store. This remix of Steve Smooth and JJ Flores’s “Stay” is the perfect way to kick off their sound for the new year. Gorgeous vocals by Colette and a dark electro drop with a very minimal feel match up so well. This is right up my alley for electro house tracks. Take a listen to the track, pick it up on BEATPORT if you’d like, and continue to follow what Sephano & Torio have in store for the rest of the year! Enjoy!
Nothing like a trap take on a dubstep classic. Sleepy Tom, a producer out of Vancouver, Canada did a very spirited remix of the iconic Flux Pavilion song. This is exactly what trap music should be, the great heavy synth and the deep tones, just sexy sexy electro.
It’s been an absolutely sensational year for Hardwell, coming off of having 500,000 likes on Facebook and being voted to #6 DJ in the World on the DJ Mag List, he’s truly living the dream. He gives us his year end mix dropping the hottest tracks of 2012 and gives us it as a free download in appreciation of his fans! Check it out for yourself and download a copy of the mix without the radio show talking overtop!
Literally get goosebumps hearing this vocal sampling everytime. Vicetone absolutely slayed this remix of Hook N Sling vs. Nervo that would have any fan of progressive house in love with it from the moment they hear it played, masterfully combining the beautiful vocals with incredible synth work that make everyone happy. Check it out for yourself and grab the free downloads for yourself!
2012 has been unbelievable year for music. WIth the EDM scene exploding here in America and superstars of all genres getting recognition it has been a great year all around. Now CMB is big on the EDM side of music and I, myself as a writer for the site, am a huge fan of EDM so my top 5 originally was just going to be just EDM tracks but I wanted to choose songs that pertained to memorable moments of my life in 2012 not just song I like. These tracks are really not in order of one being better then the other, just as a whole these 5 songs were memorable to 2012 for me. So without further a due here is my, RMcSpedon’s, personal top 5 tracks of 2012.
5. “Drunk” – Ed Sheeran
Before I even say anything else, if you haven’t got your hands on his album “+” yet you better check it out because every song off his first album ever is amazing. Most people know his song “A Team” but thats not my top song off his album. This song “Drunk” definitely was played on a lot at the end of a drunk night this year for me. Ed Sheeran’s lyrics are so relatable and I can literally listen to his whole album straight through any day.
4. “MOTA” - Flosstradamus
This track is fire! When Floss came out with his EP I fell in love with this track. Saw them this summer at Mad Decent Block Party and they know how to get the place going. The reason why I put this on my top 5 is because this track got me obsessed with Trap music. You can’t tell me when you hear this track it doesn’t make you wanna break out dancing.
3. “Take a Walk” – Passion Pit
Made In America Festival, that is all I think about when I hear this song. Passion Pit played in Philly at Made in America and literally had everyone frolicking around the Ben Franklin Parkway. One of my happiest moments of 2012 without a doubt. Any song of their new album “Gossamer” is great.
Again, MADE IN AMERICA is all i think when I hear this track. I know this just was recently release, however Afrojack dropped this at the DJ tent at Made In America and without a doubt I have to say his set was probably the best set I have heard this entire year. I had my doubts about Afrojack before, but after seeing him perform he is unbelievably talented. Another happy moment of 2012 that I will never forget.
1. “Clarity” – Zedd
Zedd blew up this year when he dropped his album “Clarity” and his song named after the album title blew me away. The vocals by Foxes give me the chills and the lyrics bring so much memories of 2012 to mind, lots of good memories and some bad. Regardless love this song and will always remind me of 2012.
