Australia Update! Angus and Julia Stone

Alright, so this is super bizarre, but in my random travels around the interwebs, I happened to come across one hell of a track, that track being Take You Higher, by Goodwill & Hook N Sling. (Many thanks to the Kaskade Pandora Station)

Its got such innocent lyrics, a great beat and makes me want to dance around with no shoes on in a big field somewhere. But back to the point, after hearing this track, I needed to know more about it and why I hadn’t heard it before. Well, it turns out I’ve never heard the track because the original creators of the song, Angus and Julia Stone, a brother and sister folk acoustic duo, hail from Australia. I kind of stopped my internet travels once I googled their names and made my way to Wikipedia, but I did pick up that the original song, aptly titled Big Jet Plane, was number one in Australia for several weeks and garnered the band some ARIA awards for best Album and best adult alternative single. So you guys might as well check out the original song below. Its a real slow yet powerful song and I have a feeling that something like this would never chart in the US, but thanks to CMB, you guys get to experience it anyways. Let us know which version of the track you like best!

Finals Chill Out Music: Sigur Ros

All right, so I know the majority of our followers are college students like me and other CMB writers. Which is why I want to come out and apologize for a slight dip in articles. We’re all college kids, and some of us are doing crazy shit. We got Engineering majors, Biology, fuck we gotta kid who writes for us that goes to a goddamn Ivy League school. Me? I’m an Art Major, and I really do not do work. Therefore, I can hopefully give you what you need in the mean time.

However, many people are looking for some music to listen to while studying for finals. Something chill, pretty calming, that lets you really focus. When I’ve been in that situation, I always find comfort in Sigur Ros, and trust me this is a band like you’ve never heard of before.

Sigur Ros is considered a post rock band from Iceland. Also, all of their songs are also in Icelandic, which is considered one of the top 10 most difficult languages to learn in the world, so don’t bother trying. However, it is so soothing and completely amazing. The album I have for you guys called “Takk” which means Thanks in Icelandic and it is a personal favorite. When I need to relax I put on this album and everything is okay.

Also, as a film major, I analyze music videos, and this music video might be one of the greatest I’ve ever seen. It’s for the song “Glosoli” off of the Takk album. The landscape is beautiful, filmed entirely in Iceland’s beautiful landscape. A MUST WATCH

Hope you enjoy some different kind of music
