Kanye West – “Mercy” (Salva & RL Grime Remix)

Well, we can’t say that we didn’t see this coming.  How could we not expect someone to drop a remix on “Mercy,” one of the hottest beat productions currently out right now. I challenge anybody to try NOT to dance when this song comes on. Not much is known about Salva and RL Grime; the two producers have collaborated before and definitely seem to have some chemistry. From what I can gather about their production styles, both like to infuse their music with hyphy trap-music beats, 808 kick drums and snares, hype-man vocals, and airy/atmospheric synths. Their remix to “Mercy” includes all of this. Needless to say, the track is banger. This is definitely a must listen. Enjoy!

And be sure to check out more of these producers’ music by heading to their Soundclouds: Salva and RL Grime. Below are some of their other tracks:

RL Grime – Grapes Alla Vodka (Salva Remix) *SNIP*

RL Grime – Trap On Acid (Afrojack- “Pacha on Acid”)

Beans – Blue Movie (Salva Remix)

Salva – SUMN BOUT DIS GIRL (“That Girl” by Pharrell and Snoop Dogg)

Kanye West – “Mercy” feat. Big Sean, Pusha T & 2 Chainz

This is one of those songs that I hate to love. Its hyphy beat had me nodding my head in seconds and the signature voice and flow of each established artist was endearingly familiar to my ears. Why then the discontent? Because verses that flaunt egregious displays of wealth and celebrity are also all too familiar to my ears. And while I am guilty of listening to artists like Waka Flocka, who are embedded quite nicely into this ‘club/party’ niche, I feel that those who can do better, should do better. I have my reservations about 2 Chainz, but artists like Kanye, Big Sean, and Pusha T are lyrically talented enough to escape this niche with ease, especially when they work together on the same track and necessarily inspire and encourage each other. To clarify further, I am all for hyphy bangers, but when songs like “Mercy” are released instead of songs like “Mama’s Boyfriend,” I cannot help but be troubled by the current state of the hip-hop industry. All this aside, click play on the Soundcloud player and blast “Mercy” through your speakers; I would be lying if I said that this song does not bump.
