I happened to come across this because on of my buddies posted it on facebook. Not gonna lie, I only gave it a shot because the girl is an absolute smoke. On top of that though, it turns out shes got pipes and does some justice in turning these songs into acoustic joints. So check out the two songs below and give the girl a follow on youtube or something. Trust me, this shit is gonna go viral!
Alright so if you are one of the nearly 200 million people that have been introduced to PSY’s out of the world Gangnam Style video then you MUST check this out. (If not you can check the wacky video here) Candyland takes this crazy song and turns it into a pretty dope trapstep remix. With some heavy hitting basslines this track is sure to be a great addition to any party playlist.
This is one of the most original sounding songs I have heard so far this year. Everything Everything is a band from Manchester, United Kingdom and aim to make music that people might not be used to hearing, in essence they are a British Indie band. The reason I even heard this track was due to a tweet by Xaphoon Jones, the producer and drummer for Chiddy Bang who is currently working on the official Xaphoon Jones remix of the song. So check the track out and be sure to check back for the remix. Cheers!
Alright so I know I dont normally post rap, but I had to drop this one on you guys. The video was posted on Hopsin’s youtube account this morning. My dude literally just goes off on modern society, honing in the youth of today and essentially ripping them apart from how they act, think, talk, walk, and breath. Crazy thing is, he is spot on with pretty much everything. The lyrics are phenomenal, the beat is dope, and the message is clear. Definitely check this out. Download coming soon.
Seeing as how I haven’t done a from across the pond post recently, I figured now was as a good a time as ever. So this is a post to introduce you to possibly the next big male star, Conor Maynard.
The Brighton based teen rose to fame through the magic of the internet, specifically through his various cover songs he posted on YouTube. He covered popular US R&B songs by the likes of Ne-Yo, Chris Brown, Usher, Katy Perry and countless others, quickly racking up hundreds of thousands of views. This all culminated with a Skype call with Ne-Yo whose track Beautiful Monsters, had been covered by Conor and had rapidly reached 1 million views. If you realized that this sounds a bit similar to the way Justin Bieber got noticed, you’d be correct.
But here is where their journeys separate. Conor has yet to be “imported” to the US Airwaves, and it will be interesting to see the reaction US fans have. There has been talks about him doing a collaboration with One Direction, a boy band in the vein of N’Sync and The Backstreet Boys. With One Directions recent success, they could be the perfect vessel to introduce Conor to the US. In England and across Europe, Conor has no trouble gaining exposure after being named MTV UK’s Brand New Artist for 2012. He is currently performing some shows in England with aims of expanding the tour when his album is released.
Now for the music, which is the important part. First up are two of his biggest covers, as well as his cover of Beautiful Monsters, which is what led him to get a record deal. After those I’ll post his new single, which is a product of the industry music machine and does a huge disservice to Conor’s voice and abilities. But anyways,
And finally, here is the single. Ugh, I can’t get over how much the industry ruins talent. Gosh, all of his songs on YouTube are generally slowed down and stripped of lots of production. Most are really sparse and just let his voice do the work. Why can’t the industry just let him make songs like that instead of trying to turn him into an unoriginal pop machine that attempts to churn out radio singles. bleh, ill stop now. watch below. it’s actually not that bad, it just isn’t what it should be.
Alright, so last night I had the pleasure of being able to catch the one and only Avicii for the first time and let me tell you his performance was unbelievable. While unfortunately for me I had to go to the show solo, the grandmaster himself made it a worthwhile venture. This was the second all ages EDM event i’ve been to and it certainly showed with the average age being around 18. This however did not affect my experience obviously as the turnout was great and crowd participation was at an all time high. The opener DJ Paige surprised me as he threw together an impressive set to get the crowd warmed up. Then came Avicii himself, absolutely blowing the crowd away with bass heavy house beats coupled with his new visuals and lightshow. It was an absolutely amazing set throwing together everything from Alesso, R3hab, Swedish House Mafia, and of course his own already known tracks along with some new bangers. Of course he had to drop the infamous “Levels” and coupled it with Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know”, which if the crowd wasn’t already pumped to the max, they were now. Catch that around 11:50 below, followed by the ever popular, “Antidote” by Swedish House Mafia. Finally he ended with Cazzette &Ash’s ‘That Shit Cray’ Remix of “Ni**as in Paris”, which was absolutely epic and blew my fucking mind. Check that around 23:00 in the video. Definitely an all around amazing show put together by Midnite Society. I’m happy to see the influx of EDM into CT. Hopefully I can see some more shows around my school here at Sacred Heart. Rage on my friends.
Alright well the boys from Timeflies come in on this one and drop that smooth flow on an already awesome track. Last night was the first time it was dropped live. Check it out and download away.
